Twitter Adds Read Receipts to DMs
Twitter is making some major changes to its private messaging characteristic. The company just announced in a tweet that it's making direct message conversations "more dynamic than e'er" with read receipts.
Basically, the little bank check marks that appear nether your message indicating that the recipient saw it will at present be a permanent feature. Also, typing indicators (the three moving dots that evidence upwardly when a person is responding) and Web link previews, which allow you to meet a little bit about a link before you click on it, will be incoporated into the organisation too.
Twitter's new read receipt feature is enabled by default, but rest assured that you can disable it from the Settings menu if you're not into the idea of people existence able to run into that y'all read their message. To disable it, head over to Settings, tap 'Privacy and content' and plow off 'Send/Receive read receipts'. In one case you do that, Twitter won't reveal to anyone that y'all saw their DM, and you won't be able to see read receipts from other people either.
Annotation that read receipts are only viewable on Twitter'south apps for iOS and Android. You lot can't see them on Twitter.com, but they'll still exist sent when y'all view something in that location.
The new features come afterward Twitter last year increased the 140-chacracter DM limit to 10,000 characters, giving users more than room to say what they desire to say. It besides immune users to DM not-followers.
Meanwhile, Twitter too today made a change to its live-streaming app Periscope: You can now see when people y'all follow join your broadcast.
